WIP it Good: A Vision of Getting Things Done

It’s a new year! And like so many of you, I am starting the year with a clear vision of how I’d like the next 365 days to take shape. I’m all about setting goals and I have a few for the year – but they are not new year’s resolutions. Sure I’d like to eat more healthfully, loose a few pounds, and save more money. I want focus not on what I lack (the will power to say no to carbs, making time to work out, and extra spending money) but rather the things that bring me joy!

Immediately, two things jump to the top of my list. Number one for me that is this little family of mine.  I love our everyday life and the memories that we create and share. I want to be able to keep my husband and daughter my number one priority this year.

Second, I love to create. I have so many ideas and plans. My goal this year is to execute as many of them as possible! Time to get out all my WIPs (work in progress). I feel a song coming on…

Now whip it
Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect it
It’s not too late
To whip it
Whip it good

(Devo, 1980, Whip It)

I just can’t help myself but bop to that tune while I’m getting projects done!¬†Maybe this will be my mantra this year?!

My Vision

I help my students write SMART goals and we talk about how setting goals in this fashion will help be more successful in reaching them. I am going to ignore my own advice. I can do that right? Remember number 1 on the top of my list? Family. I don’t want to bulldoze over them in order to reach any “lofty” goals I might set for projects this year. Rather each quarter I will evaluate my list of WIPs and select a handful to be my focus.

I’m going to use this blog as a journal of sorts to keep track of my WIPs and finished project accomplishments. Join me this year as I #wipitgood2018
